Rhythm Based Writing

This happened the other day. Thanks to Team Manila.

It’s nice to know that his writing processes are similar to mine. About how inspiration takes over and how rewarding is the result. The only difference is that his appeals to a wider audience. That may just be purely incidental. I wish.

Why do we write? Why do we do it? For me, it has always been a tool for acceptance as a receiver or transmitter. I’ve always found something about the outside world hard to understand, relate and adhere to. Especially if things are shoved within a pace of one’s life without explanation. Writing is like a tree branch reaching out to the sky while the roots(our mind) is reaching deep into the earth.

It is nice to talk to people about their own process and experience. And as a famous drummer from his previous band, he says he begins most of his songs thru rhythm. It defines the room where the song arc will flow. He talked about influences and intersections where it meet to build a new song path. He retraced Sandwich’s “Sugod” as an example along with “Betamax” and Pedicab’s “Dito Tayo Sa Dilim”. Most times another’s proficiency makes one feel inept. But most times hardwork is the only separation between the experts and the wannabes.

And that’s the reason for the therapy. As an aspirant that always believe that creativity is a natural spring, these technical lessons help channel the flow properly. With better methods of expression, the message is stated more efficiently.

Let the fool immerse deeper in his follies.
