The Maserati guy must’ve thought that he can pull off a look like that of a victim and turn the whole thing around. The lawyer blinked faster and more often because he doesn’t seem to know where to look. He was looking for better answers, much better than the one he dispensed before the lights went on cue and blasted their faces on primetime news.
This is a great example on
how not to behave and handle scandals in the Social Media age. In the age of trolls, viral videos and unnecessary apologies, public perception is usually the only source for public’s conclusion. The Maserati guy passed off as a burly man who couldn’t stand up for his actions and he looked like he was trying to mock us with feigned timidity. A douchebag that got his day online.
He tried to turn the tables against one of mostly incompetent and unpopular group of mostly kotongs out there. I mean how hard could it be? Most of them are uniformed personnel who are not fixing traffic, just looking for possible violations and possible pay offs.
But the Maserati action star stumbled, trying to hunch and be smaller. Trying to explain the impossible Physics involved in breaking the nose of the enforcer who wasn’t doing his job, but trying to make a big deal of a wrong turn he rectified immediately.
That is his mistake, he should’ve owned up to his actions. He should’ve told the millions on FB that he did what any other driver victimized on the road by these kotongs who take the streets proudly by not doing their job. The kotong had the audacity to put his hands on his collar after his demand of a small fee in exchange for convenience (“para di ka na maabala sa pag seminar”) was not met.
That would’ve resonated with more people who also wants to punch an enforcer in the face for trying to ask for 500 pesos because of swerving or any other violation they inconspicuously posted high on a random post, sponsored by a motel.
Instead, he weaved a story of how a person who spends most days under the direct punishment of the sun, rain and pollution, tried to threaten him within his spacious luxury car. How the underpaid trooper allegedly spat at his face. Them who need to sell kakaninto make ends meet honestly.
If you must defend douchebaggerry, don’t do it with sympathy. Do it with empathetic outrage. But it’s a good thing that the douchebags are full of themselves, remain idiots and out of touch beyond their insulated world.
