24-1

The marketers stretched the value of Christmas day’s showdown of the Warriors and Cavs since the Warriors broke into the opening gates with a mean winning streak.  The Warrior schedule looked promising since beating the Lakers for win #16. With a winning differential of some 14 points, Steph Curry scoring 40 at will, without playing in the fourth Q, the road to win #33 can’t seem to get fast enough. For some faux incentive, someone at marketing seem to have blurted out “Hey, Steph beating the LeBron can be for record game 33-0 if you add the dubs’ last 4 games of the 2014-2015 season!” and somebody concurred “Jason, you’re a genius! Hype up the gullible trolls of social media and let them feast on this meaningless debate”

Christmas day games are usually just for the hardcore fans with the NBA front office pitting current day rivals against each other.  Teams would be lucky if they’ll face a division rival, a short bus ride then back to see their kids open the gifts.  Sometimes teams have to live out an NBA wet dream like a Kobe versus LeBron… Or dish out the old reliable Lakers vs. Celtics.

Of course this could be the preview of the finals especially since the Warriors went on a streaking rampage. It is also quite amazing at how disrespected Steph and the gang are in their inability to convince certain circles that they are the Champs and has the ability to defend their crown this year. There always seems to be that extra hurdle that they have to conquer to legitimize their championship pedigree. From scheduling up to how “soft” the league has become, the warriors benefited blah blah blah blah… A 34 win-streak would’ve shut that up as much as a repeat can.

But since Milwaukee happened, Cavs v Warriors is reverted back to a “preview” of the finals, which remains unproven until the Cavs can get their act together.  Plus one cannot overlook the southern star behemoths that the Spurs are building… no, Posting Up!  It would be interesting to see if basketball’s post game is truly outdated.  As you can see, SAS’ triple post threat should wear out the shorter but successful stretch morphs of GSW.  LeBron took notice of this (or was it coach Pop who took notice with what he saw last June and the what-ifs it entailed like if LeBron had a better, more consistent, kick out in Kyrie?  SAS is complemented by such reliable perimeter hitters) …  As I was saying, LeBron took notice of this when he delegated Kevin Love posting as their primary offensive option.

GSW is 24-1, is basketball’s current most dominant force since the 96 Bulls and It won’t be a surprise if they streak some more.
