For Every Gained Inch

The artillery’s out for display
Passive and implied
To overpower what needs to be addressed
Even if it cannot be denied
The small pieces fall by the wayside
It’s a terrible time to realize
How little your life’s worth
Soaked in blood, broken fort
While in the palace
Self-absorbed kings play chess
Moving pieces, strategies,
Result to tragedies, hot mess
The queen with a speech, a picture for the history books
If we survive, this is what it shall look
The inspirational event
Never the result it was meant
War is a form of entertainment
And it has translated where usually
We find unity
But Ares
We let Ares
Become a dominant, accessible and acceptable trait of humanity
For every inch the warmongers gain,
A crumb falls for the peasants to feast…
