As kids, we were encouraged to sleep early and wake up late
When there’s no school
Speed up the growth, they say
Then as adults, I realized,
They may have done that to lessen the time
Some elders have to deal with kids
With their questions and energy
Or the time they need for each other
As the other gets lost
In the midst of bigger loves
