Smartly, he’d be better off
Doing another undone chore
Instead of dragging his energy down
Thinking why he should be tired
He must be

He patted himself in the back too many times
Starts to believe he deserves an escape
And doze off
Against a ticking time backlog

And when he gets some
Know that he’d want more
Hard-pressed, careless, oblivious at times
Knocking on the same door
