A hearty laugh
No other catches sincerity
In a vulnerable state
That none would dare
Abruptly end
Peaks are terrible bookmarks
Unless, what’s written
Says happily, ever, after,
Maybe the smitten
Will be lazily content
With a hazy closed chapter
Disguising how he truly feels
Maybe this time
The heart bursts for real
Instead of getting falsely filled
With digestible palliative
Blunt through the lukewarm nights
Of summer settling in
